Technical characteristics of the object

This example illustrates the principle of centralized data management within our infrastructure. Information originally created in the context of a digital exhibition is not confined to that application but can be reused seamlessly across multiple systems.

Objects are not treated as isolated entities. Depending on the application, different aspects of the same dataset come into focus. While digital exhibitions emphasize curatorial narratives and interpretive content, collection portals highlight scholarly context, metadata, and research capabilities. Media guides, in turn, rely on the very same data while providing visitor-oriented access and interpretation.

The underlying dataset exists only once. Content, media, relationships, and contextual information are managed centrally and can be reused across different applications. This avoids redundant data storage and instead creates a consistent digital knowledge space in which information can be explored, enriched, and communicated from multiple perspectives.

This example demonstrates how a single shared data foundation can support a variety of use cases without requiring duplicate content maintenance or separate information systems.

Exhibition note
One of our colleagues wished to include this exhibit in the digital exhibition. Sentimental reasons inspired the choice of this particularly kitschy object. To present it appropriately, we used a standard image module and experimented with different text presentation options. In this example, a text slider is used to illuminate the object from various perspectives, gradually introducing visitors to its small yet curious world—accompanied by scholarly commentary, but always with a touch of humor.
