Overview

Overview of search and analysis functions

This portal supports research in extensive data collections through a combination of full-text search, metadata analysis, and faceted navigation.

The search takes into account both full-text content and structured metadata. Even a few search terms are sufficient to find relevant objects, persons, places, events, or collections. Facets can then be used to refine the results and view them from different perspectives.

Depending on the data set, different types of facets are available. Hierarchical facets, for example, enable navigation through object classifications or taxonomies. Alphabetical facets support targeted searching for persons, places, or keywords. In addition, classic filters are available for dates, collections, institutions, or other attributes.

Temporal relationships can be explored using the integrated timeline. Spatial relationships are visualized through map views and geographic search functions. The nearby search allows objects to be identified within the vicinity of a specific location or in spatial proximity to each other.

For further processing and analysis, various export formats are available. Search results and data extracts can be exported as XLSX, CSV, GeoJSON, or PDF files, among others.

The combination of search, facets, temporal context, geodata, and export functions makes it possible to efficiently explore complex collections and reveal new relationships.
